From 18th to 20th October 2016 the 1st ESCAPE Dissemination and Training Workshop on “Towards Energy-efficient Scalable Algorithms for Weather- and Climate Prediction: Status and Prospects” took place at the Konventum Conference Centre (Elsinore/ Helsingor, Denmark). In total, around 50 researchers and students attended the event from universities, research institutions and companies giving 24 oral presentations.
The topics of the workshop included – Weather and Climate Dwarfs (aspects and fundamental algorithmic building blocks underlying weather and climate services), Code Adaptation Approaches (addressing heterogeneous architectures), Hybrid Computing (optimizing the exploitation of alternative technologies and specialized accelerators), and Benchmarking and Diagnostics (gauging code efficiency and energy consumption for regional and global NWP applications).

Announcement of the new map of NATO Defence Innovation Accelerators under the DIANA programme

On 14 March 2024, a new map of test and accelerator areas under the NATO's Defence Innovation Accelerator for the North Atlantic (DIANA) programme was announced. The PSNC AerospaceLab in Kąkolewo is one of dozens of locations already selected in the North Atlantic Alliance for test centres (DIANA Test Centres). A new Polish contribution to the programme is the AGH University of Krakow, which together with the Krakow Technology Park will jointly run a branch of the NATO Defence Innovation Accelerator (Krakow DIANA Accelerator).
