What is the state of Polish Internet in 2010?
Internet in Poland is the development of democracy – claims the Department for Information Technology Development
of the Ministry of the Interior and Administration. This is due to the fact that Poles are increasingly using the network to express their views and to organize themselves. In fact, this year many long expected projects are going to be launched in order to increase the infrastructure development of information society.
At the Ministry of Interior and Administration conference, which took place on May 12 in Warsaw, the discussion on the Internet was not only from a social point of view. Representatives of the Central Statistical Office, the University of Warsaw and Warsaw School of Social Sciences and Humanities spoke about what the Polish Internet user and his online activity are like.

A large part of the conference was focused on the development of broadband Internet in Poland. The achivements of Poznań Supercomputing and Networking Center in this area were presented by Dr. Cezary Mazurek from PSNC. Dr. Mazurek spoke about PSNC’s essential projects: Platon and Polish Digital Libraries. both based on a nationwide network of optical Internet – PIONIER, which provides scientific and research centers with modern data communication services, such as: video conferencing, universal archiving, scientific, interactive TV and digital libraries.
